Stretching for almost 550 square miles, the vast forest covering the entire Białowieża National Park in eastern Poland creates an oasis of wildlife in the middle of a crowded continent. The forest is home to over 250 species of birds and dozens of species of forest mammals, including the largest land mammal in Europe - the European bison. The approximately 800 Białowieża bison represent the largest free-living population of the species, which was almost hunted to extinction in 1920.

There are numerous hiking and cycling trails in Białowieża and the surrounding area. The trails vary in length and difficulty. Every cyclist will choose the right route for themselves. We are pleased to inform you that our facility has the MPR recommendation - a Cyclist-Friendly Place on the Green Velo Eastern Cycling Trail.

The Green Velo Eastern Cycling Trail is the most spectacular cycling project ever implemented in Poland. It is over 2000 km of specially marked route (main route 1887.5 km, connecting and side routes: 192 kilometres in total), which from start to finish was prepared to provide the joy of travelling and exploring. The trail leads through five eastern Polish provinces (Warmia-Masuria, Podlaskie, Lublin, Subcarpathia and Świętokrzyskie). Just getting to know each of them separately is an extraordinary experience, and getting to know them all seems like reading a wonderful fairy tale.

You can start your adventure on the trail at any point. You can travel alone, with your family or with friends. You can travel from north to south or from south to north. Start at the ends of the route or somewhere in the middle, choosing what fascinates you. Green Velo shows the beauty of Eastern Poland at its best. With a palette of colours, scents and flavours that you will not find anywhere else. So set off to Poland! Taste it. And let yourself be enchanted. The Green Velo Eastern Cycling Trail is the longest, consistently marked cycling trail in Poland. It runs mainly on public asphalt roads with low traffic intensity, through the area of ​​five voivodeships located in the eastern part of the country: Warmińsko-Mazurskie (397 km), Podlaskie (598 km), Lubelskie (414 km), Podkarpackie (459 km) and Świętokrzyskie (210 km). Almost 580 km (29% of the route length) are sections leading through forest areas, and 180 km (9% of the route length) falls on river valleys.
