Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Colleagues,
On behalf of ourselves and the Organizing Committee, we cordially invite you to participate in the 3rd edition of the Conference entitled "Lungs, Heart and Joints", which will be held in Białystok on January 16-18, 2025. This time, we want to place particular emphasis on the importance of early diagnosis of inflammatory joint diseases and systemic autoimmune diseases.
Inflammatory joint diseases and systemic autoimmune diseases usually begin at a young or mature age, and their adverse effects have huge and long-term individual and social consequences in the form of: disability, shortened life expectancy and high costs. On the other hand, the very dynamic development of modern treatment methods, which we have witnessed in recent years, gives a chance to effectively combat the effects of these diseases. The basic condition for effective treatment is early diagnosis of the disease and early implementation of appropriate procedures, which creates a chance to prevent the development of irreversible effects such as joint destruction and/or damage to internal organs, and consequently - to protect against the development of disability or premature death. Unfortunately, we are still dealing with serious delays in this area. These delays have various causes. During the upcoming conference, we want to consider together how we can change this. Hence the motto of this edition of the Conference: "Early diagnosis matters" and the invitation to participate of primary care physicians, who have a decisive role in choosing the right diagnostic path.
We also plan to address other important issues related to the treatment of rheumatic diseases, such as the issue of infections and vaccinations in patients with autoimmune diseases and/or treated with immunosuppressants, the risk of developing autoimmune diseases after exposure to chemicals (implants, tattoos, etc.), the impact of COVID-19 on the risk of developing autoimmune diseases, pain management, safety or individualization of treatment with NSAIDs and glucocorticosteroids, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
The assumptions of the pilot program in the field of comprehensive care for beneficiaries with early arthritis will also be presented. In this context, we want to discuss cooperation between rheumatologists and primary care physicians and cooperation within an interdisciplinary team in order to provide optimal care for patients with systemic rheumatic diseases.
In connection with the above, we invite rheumatologists, family doctors and specialists in all fields involved in the care of patients with rheumatic diseases to participate in the Conference.
As in previous editions of the Conference, the scientific program of the Conference will include, in addition to plenary lectures, "round table" discussions, presentations of interesting clinical cases and interactive sessions. The conference will be interdisciplinary in nature, with the participation of outstanding experts.
Those of you who will not be able to participate in person are invited to participate online.
