Mother's Day - facts and curiosities
inConferences.com

Mother's Day is a holiday celebrated all over the world, dedicated to honoring and celebrating the role and love of mothers. It is a special occasion when people express gratitude and respect for their mothers and other women who play the role of mothers in their lives. Mother's Day has a long history and is celebrated in different ways in different countries.

The origins of Mother's Day date back to ancient times, when there were already iconic holidays honoring the goddesses of motherhood. However, in its current form, the holiday was created in the 19th century. It was then that the idea was born to honor mothers in a special way and emphasize their irreplaceable role in society.

The first traces of celebrating Mother's Day in its modern form can be found in the United States. It was there, in the early 20th century, that Anna Jarvis began working to establish an official holiday honoring mothers. Her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, was a social activist who worked to improve medical care for mothers and children. After her mother died in 1905, Anna Jarvis became involved in the efforts to establish Mother's Day as a tribute to mothers and their efforts.

Thanks to her determination, in 1914 the United States Congress established the Second Sunday in May as Mother's Day, to be celebrated throughout the country. Since then, Mother's Day has become one of the most popular holidays in the United States.
